Swagger Like Us Pt.2?? September 27, 2008

I guess there’s enough swagger to go around, huh?

Rumors, nah, I don’t do those, but when this rumor slid across my desk, I just had to pump some more oxygen into it. And the only reason WHY I’m applying pressure to this particular anecdote is because on the original version, T.I. mentions Jeezy during his verse, so there actually might be some truth to this. Regardless if this rumor is true or false….wait, before I continue on, let me first address the issue at hand.

According to a little birdie, President Carter is looking to recruit some new soldiers for a “Swagger Like Us” sequel. Participants include; 50 Cent, Nas, Andre 3000, and of course, Young Jeezy. What to make of this new revelation, I have no idea. BUT, if this were to become a reality………GOOOD LORD! It’s bad enough the original was like, one of the BEST tracks in the last 5 years, but to make a sequel that just might surpass the original…..ahhhhhhhhhhhh sh*t!

It was also noted that Hova wanted the sequel to live on his new offering, The Blueprint 3. Word to everything I love, if Mr. Beyonce Knowles chooses to release BP3 anytime after December….*makes mean face and punches computer screen*.

Oh, Hova also scored a cover over at TimeOut, a popular NYC publication. Check out the interview here……

Lil Wayne Blogs For ESPN September 27, 2008

Read an excerpt from his first blog here

Lil Wayne doesn’t just rap, thank you: he blogs too. Well, he just started. ESPN grabbed the star emcee to start blogging for them about one of his first loves: sports.

Read an excerpt below:

I grew up playing football. Believe it or not, I was a fullback. When I was nine, ten, eleven, I was a great blocker. I knew how to block real good and the other kids didn’t. So there I was. One game when I was ten years old we were on the goal line about to score, and coach called the play for me. I was supposed to go one way, but I ended up sneaking around the other side on a sweep. Everybody thought I was already tackled. The ref was already blowin’ his whistle. But I was still up and I stutter stepped one way and beat the last guy trying to get me and scored that touchdown. That’s my favorite sports memory for myself.

Besides the Packers, my favorite teams are the Red Sox, the Lakers and the Boston Bruins. I also love tennis. I had a lot of people over to my place to watch the Wimbledon final this year, and we went crazy. I love Federer but Nadal is my favorite. He’s the man. I love his motivation and his heart is big. He leaves it on the court. And when I found out he still lives with his family despite his success, that was it for me. That’s unbelievable right there. That just goes to show you where his heart is at, how much love he has. So we were watching that match, and nobody thought he was gonna win. Everybody was telling me how he hadn’t beat Federer on the hard court and he could only do it on clay but I never had any doubts. I knew his heart was gonna do it for him, and it did.

DJ AM was released from Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Ga., where he was being treated for injuries from a fatal plane crash.

“While he is deeply saddened by the events, he is thankful for all of the love and support he has been receiving from fans and friends worldwide,” his rep, Jenni Weinman, says in a statement. “We ask that you continue to respect his privacy as he rests and heals and mourns the loss of his friends.”

DJ AM, 35, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, suffered serious burns in the crash shortly after midnight Sept. 19 that also injured Travis Barker, 32, and killed four others.

Barker is expected to leave the hospital in about two weeks, says his friend Jermaine Dupri, who visited the former Blink 182 drummer in the hospital last Sunday.

New Details on How Travis and DJ AM Survived Crash

How did Travis Barker and DJ AM (real name: Adam Goldstein) survive the plane crash that killed four people and left them with second- and third-degree burns?

“[Travis and Adam] told me that they slid down the wing on the right side of the plane,” Lieut. Josh Shumpert of the South Congaree Police Department tells PEOPLE. Shumpert was one of the second responders at the scene – Congaree is the town outside of Columbia, S.C. – after the airport police arrived.

“They said they were on fire,” adds Shumpert, whose patrol car’s dashboard camera caught video of the fiery aftermath, “and that they tackled each other and put each other out.”

“When I got there they were on the side of the road,” says Shumpert. “They were pacing and in shock.”

“Travis was very shaken up,” he says, noting that Barker was given Gatorade after he asked for some water.

According to the lieutenant, the pair weren’t naked, contrary to eyewitness statements.

“Travis was wearing some kind of shorts and no shirt,” says Shumpert, adding that Goldstein was wearing shorts or boxers as well. “Travis had one sock on. And a black hat on his head.”

Quick Thinking

The fast reactions of the former Blink 182 drummer Barker, 32, and Goldstein, 35, gave them a good chance of a full recovery.

“Since both Barker and Goldstein are in overall good health and didn’t suffer from any other crash-related complications, a full recovery is expected,” said Dr. Fred Mullins of the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors’ Hospital in Augusta at a Sunday morning press conference.

Mullins added that recovery from such burns can take as long as a year.

CIARA ‘VERY UPSET’ OVER VIBE COVER September 27, 2008

R&B singer Ciara claims she was wearing underwear during the photo shoot for Vibe’s October cover, even though it looks as if she’s completely naked.

It’s “very, very upsetting and somewhat misleading,” she told MTV News of the photo.

However, Vibe Editor-in-Chief Danyel Smith says not only was Ciara indeed fully naked for the shoot, but the whole thing was her idea.

“I have so much respect for Ciara, and Ciara was so happy when she pitched this idea to us, and the photos are actually striking and beautiful,” Smith said during an interview with New York’s KISS-FM. “It was pitched to me in a way that it was time [for her] to grow up and be beautiful and be free and be all the things she wanted to be.”

Ciara says the intent of the photo shoot – as far as she was concerned – was to celebrate the human form. At the end of the session, she walked away believing everything had gone great. It wasn’t until she saw the photos weeks later that she realized something was missing.

“When I saw the pictures, that wasn’t what was discussed or what we were going in to do, so that definitely bothered me,” she told MTV. “I think the body is something beautiful, and I wanted to celebrate that. And unfortunately, it wasn’t exactly what it was in the photo shoot, and I’m looking forward to moving forward.”

Ciara says she will not pursue any legal action against the urban publication.

“I think, at this point, I’d rather just be quiet about things such as that but I definitely want to make it clear that I was going in to do something artistic, and I was upset that when I saw the photos, everything was gone,” the singer told MTV.

The American Cinematheque has selected Samuel L. Jackson to receive its annual honor, to be presented at the organization’s Dec. 1 gala at the Beverly Hilton, according to the Hollywood Reporter. AMC will air the event Dec. 9.  Jackson has five films in production this year, including Neil LaBute’s “Lakeview Terrace,” “Soul Men” and the Christmas release of the Frank Miller action drama “The Spirit.”

*Word has it that the biggest diva on the new season of “Dancing With the Stars” is retired NFL star Warren Sapp. TMZ.com is reporting that the former player “talks down to everybody (especially the guy dancers and production assistants), yells at people and consistently walks out of rehearsals with partner Kym Johnson.”

*The latest addition to T-Pain’s 22-car collection is a hearse, according to People.com. “My hearse has just been painted orange. I just got a blue top put on it and I’ve got a matching blue fiberglass coffin in the back,” he tells People. A coffin inside holds “speakers and TVs,” says the singer, whose hearse was part of a recent photo shoot for his upcoming album “Thr33 Ringz,” out Nov. 11. The lingering scent of the car’s past use was an early problem for the artist. “We had to Febreeze the hell out of the car,” he says. “Everyone is afraid of it. But I don’t think of it in that way. It’s a car.”

Musicians Will.I.am and Angelique Kidjo were among the celebs gathered at the United Nations Thursday to launch a new campaign designed to cut global poverty in half by 2015.

According to the Associated Press, Will.I.am and his Black Eyed Peas group member apl.de.ap performed a new song written for the Global Call to Action against Poverty called “in my name” outside the UN, where world leaders are gathered this week.

“It’s calling individuals to realize their power in solving global poverty and ending world hunger,” Will.I.am sang. “Enforcing the politicians to keep what they promised and picking the world leaders that will lead the world honest.”

“How can we continue this injustice and move forward, how can we prepare the next generation not to repeat the same mistakes that are happening today?” said Kidjo, who is from Benin. “As an African artist, as an African mother, as an African person I cannot just standby.”

Angelique Kidjo

Also on hand Thursday was actress Kristin Davis, model Elle Macpherson, Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and economist Jeffrey Sachs.

YouTube launched a new channel on its site Thursday where users can upload a video stating their name, home country, and a message to their government about the need to meet the poverty goals.

Steve Grove, head of news and politics for YouTube, said the company will accept videos until Nov. 1, at which point Will.I.am will mash up all the videos into another version of the song. He then will present it to world leaders and broadcast it directly to the U.N.
