MILIAN ‘SHOCKED’ OVER EX’S MARRIAGE TO MARIAH December 22, 2008

 

Christina Milian said she was caught off guard upon hearing news that her ex-boyfriend, Nick Cannon, married Mariah Carey within weeks of meeting each other earlier this year.

 

      “I definitely was shocked like everybody else,” the actress-singer, who dated her ‘Love Don’t Cost a Thing’ costar in 2005, tells Rap-Up magazine in its Winter 08/09 issue, on newsstands Dec. 30.

 

      “I was like, ‘Really?’ It just seemed like a weird match,” she adds. “But I was happy for him. I always feel like Nick works hard to get what he wants, whether that be women – that’s how he got me.”

 

      Milian, 27, says she and Cannon “were so young” when they were together. She hasn’t spoken to Cannon since he started dating Carey. But looking back on their relationship, Milian says she has no ill feelings or regrets.

 

      “He’s a beautiful person,” she says. “Regardless of what I felt in the past at the time, I actually forgive him and I’m very much over that.”

MARIAH SCRAPS TOUR FOR PREGNANCY? December 12, 2008

 

The New York Daily News is reporting that Mariah Carey was forced to cancel a planned tour after learning that she is pregnant, but a rep for the singer is denying both the tour and the pregnancy.      

       The newspaper’s Gatecrasher column quoted a Carey “insider” who said: “Costume designers and dancers were all called Wednesday and told the tour is off. Most were hysterically crying because they were relying on her for a paycheck this holiday season.”       

       However, a rep for the songstress said “a tour was discussed, but nothing was confirmed,” adding: “I have not been told she’s pregnant.”

MARIAH’S BIGGEST BALLADS ON ONE DISC December 11, 2008

 

A collection of Mariah Carey’s best-selling slow songs are now available on one CD.      

       “Mariah Carey: The Ballads,” due Jan. 20 from Sony, features 18 of her biggest hits, including nine No. 1s – among them “Hero,” “Vision Of Love,” “One Sweet Day” and “Dreamlover.”

NICK BUYS MARIAH A SKI LODGE? December 3, 2008

 

Nick Cannon has reportedly spent $1.5 million on a luxury five-bedroom ski lodge in Aspen, Colorado as a Christmas gift for his wife, Mariah Carey.

 

      “Nick is clearly still in the honeymoon phase. He’s shocked all their pals by going out of his way to buy Mariah this beautiful sanctuary,” a source tells British newspaper the Daily Mirror:

 

       “He knows Aspen is one of her favorite places in the world so this is his early Christmas present to her,” added the source.

How about this? Lady Soul and Diddy are hooking up! No, not that way, but to launch a new “American Idol” style show. That’s right, according to WENN, Aretha Franklin and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs are combining forces to find talented R&B and hip-hop stars. But, unlike “AI,” the winner of their new venture will be decided by them – not the public. “The country will not vote. It will just be me and Diddy voting for who the next star will be,” says Franklin. Look for the show sometime in 2009.

 

     *Mariah Carey reportedly is not happy with hubby Nick Cannon’s candid comments about the couple’s no-sex-before-marriage pact. The older Mariah, who wed the younger Cannon in April, feels he went too far when he told the world the pair waited until their wedding night to have sex for the first time, reports Starpulse. She says, “Why did he tell that story? I didn’t want him to let everybody know that.”

 

     *Talking to Giant magazine, Beyonce said she prepared for the potential challenges in her marriage to Jay-Z after watching her mother Tina and father Matthew struggle and overcome their differences as husband and wife. “My parents are tighter now than ever, but they’ve been through it all,” she said. “There were times when they were together, times when they were apart. I learned that it’s a lot of hard work, that it’s more than a dress.”

ELLEN TO MARIAH CAREY – ‘YOU’RE PREGNANT!’ November 28, 2008

 

Ellen Degeneres decided she would try and settle the Mariah Carey pregnancy rumors once and for all during the singer’s appearance on her talk show this week.

 

      After Carey nervously laughed and told Ellen “Don’t discuss that” when asked about the pregnancy talk, the host stood up and got a bottle of champagne and two flutes. 

 

      “You don’t’ have to answer it, let’s just toast with Champagne and decide…,” said Ellen, before her voice was drowned out by audience laugher and applause.  

 

       “It’s just fattening,” demurred Carey – who married Nick Cannon in May – adding, “This is peer pressure!”       

       “No, let’s toast to you not being pregnant, if you’re not pregnant,” Ellen persisted.      

       The two clinked glasses – but Carey only pretended to drink the wine.       

       “You’re pregnant!” DeGeneres declared.       

       “No, no, no,” Carey insisted. “We will let you know when we’re going to have a family.”       

       So why refuse the bubbly?       

       “It’s too early for me,” explained the Grammy-winner. “I only drink after 3 p.m.”

LL, MARIAH TO CO-HOST GRAMMY SPECIAL November 19, 2008

 

LL Cool J, Mariah Carey and Taylor Swift will serve as co-hosts of the first-ever one-hour special to announce the 2008 nominations for Grammy Awards.

 

       The event, to be held in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theatre, LA Live, will also serve as a grand opening ceremony for the new Grammy Museum, located inside of the venue.       

      Performers confirmed for the still-growing lineup list include B.B. King, The Foo Fighters, Celine Dion and John Mayer.

 

       The “Grammy Nominations Concert: Countdown to Music’s Biggest Night” airs live Dec. 3 on CBS. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com. The 51st Grammy Awards will air on Feb. 9. 

MARIAH CAREY SHOVED INTO ‘PUSH’ November 12, 2008

 

Mariah Carey is reportedly set to play a small role opposite Dakota Fanning in the upcoming film “Push,” reports WENN.       

      The entertainer says she’ll play a dowdy New York social worker in the sci-fi thriller, which follows a group of young American ex-pats with telekinetic and clairvoyant abilities who are hiding from a clandestine U.S. government agency. They must utilize their different talents and band together for a final job enabling them to escape the agency forever.

 

       “I’m not going to be a pretty picture. The role’s a supporting part – a little scene – but it’s a very important scene,” Carey says of her role. “I don’t want to reveal what happens, but my character is important because things are revealed through her.”

 

       Djimon Hounsou and Camilla Belle also star in the film, which is due in Feb. 2009.      

      In other Mariah news, London’s Daily Mail detailed every penny of the expenses needed to transport and house Carey for Monday’s World Music Awards in Monte Carlo.

 

      The paper reported: The singer’s extraordinary demands included a £100,000 private jet transport to the ceremony in Monte Carlo and a £10,000-a-night penthouse suite at the exclusive Hotel de Paris for two nights. Never one to travel light, she also asked for similar VIP treatment at the hotel for her 15-strong entourage of stylists and personal assistants.

 

        And when she felt a little peckish, she decided that the five-star hotel just wasn’t quite up to standard.  Instead she had renowned Michelin-starred chef Alain Ducasse brought to her hotel to cook her a private dinner. Seemingly impressed with the results, she then asked if he could stay and teach her how to cook the clam linguine for her new husband Nick Cannon.       

        Never mind that the 38-year-old was appearing for only 15 minutes on the night. After collecting her Special Achievement award, she made a short speech before being escorted immediately home.

 

       During her stay in London, Carey appeared on the TV competition show “X Factor,” where she sang her latest single “I Stay In Love” before joining the show’s finalists on stage to sing her hit “Hero.”

 

       Similar to her appearance on “American Idol,” Carey’s “X Factor” face time included mentoring sessions and each contestant performing a Mariah ballad.

MARIAH CAREY TO SING AT AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS November 11, 2008

 

Mariah Carey has been added to the list of performers for the American Music Awards, set for Nov. 23.

 

      The songstress joins previously announced artists the Jonas Brothers, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Ne-Yo, Pink, the Pussycat Dolls and the reunited New Kids on the Block.

 

       Alicia Keys leads the nominations with five. Coldplay and The Eagles are up for four each, while Lil’ Wayne and Chris Brown received three nods apiece. All five are up for Artist of the Year honors, the night’s biggest award.

NO SEX FOR NICK & MARIAH UNTIL MARRIAGE November 10, 2008

 

Mariah Carey has revealed that she and her husband Nick Cannon did not engage in sexual activity until their wedding night.

 

      “It’s not that we had no intimacy. It’s just me, and my feelings,” the singer told WENN. “I definitely don’t want to push it on anybody else. But we both have similar beliefs, and I just thought that it would be so much more special if we waited until after we were married. And it was, and it still is.”

 

      Carey and Cannon traveled to the Bahamas for their wedding in April following a two month romance.
