Death Row co-founder Suge Knight will today be charged with battery and two counts of possession of a controlled substance in connection with his Aug. 27 arrest in Las Vegas for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, reports Allhiphop.com.
Knight was discovered by police wielding a knife and punching a naked Melissa Isaac in a parking lot off the Las Vegas Strip. He was arrested for felony assault, misdemeanor domestic violence, and for possession of the illegal drugs Ecstasy and hydrocodone (a codeine-based pain reliever).
“It took a while for the lab to analyze the substances, which caused a delay in filing the charges,” explained district attorney David Roger. “Considering Mr. Knight’s notoriety, these are serious charges.”
Suge’s battery charge remains in jeopardy, as the alleged victim Isaac has gone missing since the incident. At the time of her disappearance, Isaac was scheduled to testify against the former rap mogul in court.
Even without Isaac, Roger’s prosecution team has vowed to move forward with the case, as two arresting officers were witness to the assault.
