The St. Petersburg Times is reporting that a photographer is suing Chris Brown and his girlfriend Rihanna for $1 million after alleging their bodyguards roughed him up and took off with his camera in May. [Scroll down to hear 911 call.]

Luis Santana, 26, is suing to replace the $3,000 camera that was broken and stolen; to pay for the photos he lost; and compensation for his injuries and emotional distress, said his attorney, Paul Kimsey.

On May 6, Brown and Rihanna celebrated his 19th birthday at Vintage Ultra Lounge in St. Petersburg. Santana took at least one picture of the stars through an open window of their limo, Kimsey said. Then bodyguards working for Brown, Rihanna and Vintage Ultra Lounge chased Santana, forced him to the ground and stole his camera, breaking it in the process, according to Kimsey.

The club and three alleged attackers are also named as defendants in the suit.

“This is America. It’s called the First Amendment. If you’re in public, you’re subject to being photographed,” Kimsey said. “Everyone is, celebrity or not.”

The state attorney’s office is not prosecuting because witnesses provided too much conflicting information to identify the suspects beyond a reasonable doubt, said Bruce Bartlett, chief assistant state attorney. Police also presented Santana with photos of possible suspects, but he was unable to make a clear identification, Bartlett said. Instead, he pointed out the defendant and said the picture “looks like him,” Bartlett said.

Chris Brown a big hit with on-demand viewers December 2, 2008

Chris Brown is in demand with on-demand viewers.

The TV on-demand service Music Choice said Monday the soul singer was its most requested artist in a one-year period ending in September. Fans ordered free plays of Brown’s videos or interviews 43 million times.

Music Choice honored Brown on its first “Most Demanded” awards show that was available — logically enough — on-demand starting Monday.

Network executive Damon Williams said teenage girls were primarily responsible for Brown’s win. He said fans would invite friends over to watch or show off the video on their cell phones.

The Jonas Brothers and Lil Wayne were big draws, too. Wayne’s “Lollipop” video was seen 12 million times.

Despite being available in less than one-third of the nation’s TV homes, Music Choice says it is behind only YouTube as a popular place for people to seek out music videos on demand.

Music Choice, perhaps better known for its suite of channels that play different genres of music, sees growth opportunity with its on-demand features, Williams said. Surveys show fewer than 10 percent of the people who have the capability of getting on-demand video actually use the service, he said.

The company just started offering music videos on-demand 2 1/2 years ago.

Mariah Carey has been added to the list of performers for the American Music Awards, set for Nov. 23.

The songstress joins previously announced artists the Jonas Brothers, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Ne-Yo, Pink, the Pussycat Dolls and the reunited New Kids on the Block.

Alicia Keys leads the nominations with five. Coldplay and The Eagles are up for four each, while Lil’ Wayne and Chris Brown received three nods apiece. All five are up for Artist of the Year honors, the night’s biggest award.

Paris Hilton, Kate Walsh and Akon will also be presenters at the telecast, which airs live on ABC.  Tickets to the event, which will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel from the Nokia Theater LA Live!, are still available to the public. Click here for more infhttp://dickclarkproductions.com/

In terms of me working with Lindsay, she was professional, she knew her lines and she was great with me.”

Chris Brown, 19, says he’s been busy writing material for pop star Britney Spears to consider using on her upcoming album.

“I actually wrote a couple songs for her now,” Brown told the Associated Press, noting that Spears has yet to hear them. “We’re on the same label, so all the executives heard the records and they love the records, so hopefully she’ll cut it. But if she doesn’t, oh well, we’ll go back in the studio and still do some more records for her.”

Brown, who won best male video for “With You” at Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards, wrote “Disturbia,” the current single from his rumored girlfriend Rihanna.

As a vocalist, Brown will appear on forthcoming tracks from rappers Nas and Ludacris.
