When country star Tim McGraw and R&B singer T-Pain appeared together in a “Saturday Night Live” skit last month, little did they know it would lead to a real musical collaboration.

“We talked about getting in the studio together, so that’s probably going to happen soon,” T-Pain tells E! Online. “I definitely think we could do something cool and different.”

The pairing wouldn’t be McGraw’s first with an urban artist. In 2004, he recorded the song “Over and Over” with rapper Nelly; and earlier this month McGraw reportedly recorded a new single, “Human,” for Chris Brown’s upcoming album.

T-Pain says his collaboration with McGraw will be different from Nelly’s approach on “Over and Over.”

“The hip-hop has been done with Tim and Nelly, so we gotta be more country than hip-hop,” he says.

Funkmeister George Clinton tells Details magazine that he’s storing his DNA so he can be cloned one day. The eccentric musician says cloning has actually been going on for thousands of years. “Cloning – we got generations of that s***,” Clinton said. “The pyramids? They was for cloning. That’s why embalming lasts so long. Get the DNA and pull ’em back. So somebody been cloned already, but not me. Not yet.”

*One shopper in the organic fruit section of Whole Foods at New York’s Time Warner Center ran to the New York Daily News to report that Usher was given special treatment and “cut [in front of] about 15 people waiting in the checkout line.” The witness continued: “He was whisked to the front to pay in a ‘special’ line. Everyone was grumbling as he was escorted past.”

*The Daily News is also reporting that Ford gave rap star Nelly a custom-made Flex vehicle at his birthday bash in Vegas. “He then headed to dinner at Lavo at the Palazzo, where the Grammy winner blew out 34 candles on a cake in the shape of his new ride,” according to the paper.

*TMZ is reporting that Republican mascot Joe the Plumber ended up at Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club over the weekend and was greeted by staffers with “open arms and drinks on the house.” The rap mogul famously supported Barack Obama, whose tax policy was questioned by Joe during a campaign stop in Toledo.  He was quickly adopted by the GOP as a middle class symbol after Obama said his tax plan sought to “spread the wealth around.” Born Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, Joe also dropped by the Navy’s USS Intrepid and Coyote Ugly during his NY trip.

*Los Angeles Times columnist Greg Braxton spoke to Bill Cosby about the ‘Huxtable factor” in the election of Barack Obama. “For all those people who said they didn’t know any black people like the Huxtables,” quipped Cosby in a phone interview, “all I can say is, ‘Will you watch the show now?'” Read entire article here.

*A man charged in the shooting of Jacksonville Jaguars offensive lineman Richard Collier has pleaded not guilty at his arraignment. Tyrone Romaro Hartsfield stood silently as public defender Ann Finnell pleaded not guilty Monday to charges of attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, reports the AP. The 32-year-old Hartsfield is charged with shooting Collier 14 times on Sept. 2. Collier is paralyzed from the waist down and his left leg had to be amputated as a result of the shooting. Hartsfield is being held without bond. A judge set another hearing for Dec. 1.

Nelly Admits He and Ashanti Are ‘Serious’ November 3, 2008

Whoa, Nelly!

The rapper – who has kept mum about his romance with Ashanti for years – is finally ready to dish.

The key to their below-the-radar relationship, he tells PEOPLE, is that they both love to have a good time.

“That’s the thing between me and her, we just like having fun,” he said Sunday at Las Vegas’s Lavo club, where he was celebrating his 34th birthday.

Although Ashani was in Japan and couldn’t attend the party, Nelly admitted that the two have been “hanging out for a minute.” (That’s a bit of an understatement. In fact, they’ve been linked on and off since 2003.)

So is it serious?

“I think it’s always serious,” he said, “when you can hang with a person continuously … and [“still”] have fun.”

Earlier this summer, Ashanti would only call Nelly a “good friend.” But, she coyly told PEOPLE, an engagement could “definitely [be] in the future.”

MTV’s Choose or Lose campaign and CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360” are partnering for a two-night event to support veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

“A Night for Vets: An MTV Concert for the BRAVE” will air Oct. 24 on MTV (8 p.m. EDT) from a performance taped in New York the previous day, reports the Associated Press.  BRAVE stands for Bill of Rights for American Veterans, a petition created by MTV and several veterans’ organizations.

The concert, which will also broadcast online at www.vMTV.com, features performances by 50 Cent, Ludacris and Saving Abel, as well as taped performances from Kanye West, Kid Rock, Fall Out Boy, Angels and Airwaves, Nelly, Juanes and Taylor Swift. Also making taped performances are Beyonce, Will Ferrell, Jennifer Hudson, John Legend and others.

On Oct. 25, CNN will air a special of “Anderson Cooper 360” titled “Back From Battle” that focuses on stories of young veterans. News packages from CNN and MTV News will air throughout the special, which will be held in front of an audience of young veterans and their families.

“It doesn’t matter where you stand on the war, we can all agree that young veterans serving our country must receive the benefits they’ve earned for their sacrifices,” said Van Toffler, president of MTV Networks. “We aim to elevate these issues and ensure they’re a top priority for our government officials.”

The Vault contains vocal recordings penned by Ashanti in 2001 while signed exclusively to AJM Records. This composite of work was completed before AJM’s joint venture with Murder Inc/Def Jam in 2002.

Top notch producers added the finishing touches to The Vault, including 15-year-old producing wunderkind Miguel “Migs” Baeza. Migs produced the first single set to drop from The Vault, “Let’s Do Something Crazy.” (Listen to it here.)

For the cut, Migs brought in hip-hop superstar Flo-Rida to drop a few rhymes, making “Let’s Do Something Crazy” a sure hit. “Although the track is not like any other Ashanti song heard before, I tried to please her already established fan base by maintaining the classic Ashanti style while at the same time indulging a new audience with an upbeat, exciting feel on this upcoming single,” says Migs. Migs also worked his magic on the irresistible “Satisfy,” another track from The Vault.

Other producers on the album include Kidd Kold, AJM’s in-house producer who is responsible for the 2nd single “Imagine.” (Listen to it here.) Kidd has produced 8 tracks on The Vault and has worked with DMX and Foxy Brown. Additional producers include Nocko, Steven White and Kenny Flav. Nocko is no stranger to hit makers. He has worked with countless top artists like Mary J. Blige, T.I., Trina, Lil Mo, Monica, Teddy Riley, Ludacris, Nelly and Rick Ross. This dream team of producers has turned The Vault into a must have treasure.

Get ready to discover the treasure of Ashanti: The Vault. Its musical gems are priceless recordings.
