Rihanna will be in Washington D.C. next month with hundreds of other celebrities who are taking part in various inaugural balls following the swearing in of Barack Obama.

The pop star will headline the Recording Industry Association of America’s Presidential Inauguration Charity Ball, to benefit Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization.

Vicki Escarra, president and CEO of Feeding America, tells People.com: “We could not be happier that Rihanna will be performing at the Inauguration charity ball to benefit Feeding America.

“Rihanna’s involvement will help raise awareness about the prevalence of hunger in America and help bring more aid to the 36 million Americans who do not always know where they will find their next meal.”

Elsewhere on the night of Jan 20, Sting will be performing at the Creative Coalition ball, while Kanye West is said to be in talks to perform for the Impact Film Fund, according to People.com.

The St. Petersburg Times is reporting that a photographer is suing Chris Brown and his girlfriend Rihanna for $1 million after alleging their bodyguards roughed him up and took off with his camera in May. [Scroll down to hear 911 call.]

Luis Santana, 26, is suing to replace the $3,000 camera that was broken and stolen; to pay for the photos he lost; and compensation for his injuries and emotional distress, said his attorney, Paul Kimsey.

On May 6, Brown and Rihanna celebrated his 19th birthday at Vintage Ultra Lounge in St. Petersburg. Santana took at least one picture of the stars through an open window of their limo, Kimsey said. Then bodyguards working for Brown, Rihanna and Vintage Ultra Lounge chased Santana, forced him to the ground and stole his camera, breaking it in the process, according to Kimsey.

The club and three alleged attackers are also named as defendants in the suit.

“This is America. It’s called the First Amendment. If you’re in public, you’re subject to being photographed,” Kimsey said. “Everyone is, celebrity or not.”

The state attorney’s office is not prosecuting because witnesses provided too much conflicting information to identify the suspects beyond a reasonable doubt, said Bruce Bartlett, chief assistant state attorney. Police also presented Santana with photos of possible suspects, but he was unable to make a clear identification, Bartlett said. Instead, he pointed out the defendant and said the picture “looks like him,” Bartlett said.

Got ink?

Rihanna certainly does. The singer showed off a new tattoo on her right wrist Wednesday, as she chatted with reporters at a UNICEF event.

“It’s tribal,” she said at the charity’s annual Snowflake Lighting Ceremony in New York’s Grand Army Plaza. “It represents strength and love.”

Rihanna also revealed that she got the exotic-looking tat while in New Zealand for a recent tour date.

“It’s their traditional way of tattooing,” she said of the Maori-inspired geometric design. “I always wanted [one].”

But even for a tattoo enthusiast like Rihanna, this particular method had one big drawback: “It hurt like hell!”

The “Disturbia” singer has a number of other tats – including a cluster of stars on her neck. (Boyfriend Chris Brown has a matching set.)

Pop star Rihanna has canceled tonight’s scheduled concert in Indonesia due to concerns over her safety.

Dive Purnomo, a spokeswoman for the event organizer, said the 20-year-old singer was supposed to perform before a sold-out crowd of 6,000 in the capital, Jakarta. But she decided against it while in Australia, one of several countries that issued a travel advisory to citizens in Indonesia after the weekend executions of three Islamic militants convicted in the 2002 Bali bombings.

The men called on followers to carry out revenge attacks if their deaths by firing squad went ahead as scheduled.

Purnomo, of Show Master Live, said she hoped Rihanna would make up the cancelled Jakarta gig sometime in January.
