Beyonce Knowles has made a personal donation of $100,000 to the Gulf Coast Ike Relief Fund benefiting victims of Hurricane Ike in the Greater Houston area who’ve lost homes, property, and jobs.

The Fund was established at the request of Houston Mayor Bill White to help fill human needs for victims located primarily in Galveston, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Harris and Montgomery counties.

The Gulf Coast Ike Relief Fund will provide aid to nonprofit organizations providing immediate relief in the area including shelter and temporary housing, food and household supplies, transportation and child care.

Beyonce is currently organizing a fundraising benefit for Hurricane Ike Relief through the Survivor Foundation with full details to be announced soon.

In the meantime, her not-for-profit organization Survivor Foundation – founded with her parents Tina and Mathew Knowles, sister Solange and former Destiny’s Child band mate Kelly Rowland – helped a couple to get married after Ike caused two wedding facilities in the Houston area to go bankrupt.

Nathan Rhodes and Ronda Lotter were among thousands of brides and grooms left without a place to exchange vows.  The Survivor Foundation donated the House of Dereon Media Center for Rhonda and Nathan’s wedding and reception. It was the first wedding ever held there.

SOLANGE COPS ATTITUDE OVER NOTHING: Singer complains to news anchor about Jay-Z question that was never asked August 28, 2008

Filed under: Entertainment — Ryann Hayman @ 2:48 pm

Solange Knowles tried to check a Las Vegas news anchor for a Jay-Z-related question during their interview – only the question was never asked.

Beyonce’s little sister was appearing via satellite on KVVU to promote her new album “Sol Angel & the Hadley Street Dreams.” During a commercial break, her rep was asked if the reporter could mention Solange’s brother-in-law Jay-Z’s newly-closed 40/40 club in Las Vegas. Solange’s rep said absolutely not, and questions were to focus solely on her music.

The station agreed and the interview began after the break. The reporter gave her a cheery welcome, after which Solange proceeded to complain – on live TV – about how “unprofessional” the woman was to begin the segment “talking about my family and my brother-in-law’s establishment.”

The reporter looked confused, looked at her notes, glanced off camera and said, “Okay, well we do apologize… ” An anchor off stage quickly interrupted: “That wasn’t live, Solange, that wasn’t on TV.”

Solange said, “Okay,” and the interview continued. Awkwardly.
